Role Overview
The Director of Business Development will be equally responsible for
expanding Clin Ops Solutions’ client base and recruiting high-quality
candidates to meet client needs. This dual-focused role ensures we not only
secure new partnerships but also deliver the talent that drives client
success. The ideal candidate has spent the majority of their career in
biotechnology companies, with direct experience in clinical operations, and
understands the unique challenges faced by sponsors. Unlike traditional
CRO or large pharma roles, this position emphasizes authentic biotech
relationships, consultative business development, and credibility within the
biotech ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development
- Leverage an extensive biotech network to identify and connect potential clients with Clin Ops Solutions.
- Initiate and facilitate introductions to senior leaders and decision-makers in small-to-mid-sized biotechnology companies.
- Develop and execute strategies to expand the client portfolio and drive revenue growth.
- Collaborate with leadership to prepare proposals, capability presentations, and client engagement materials.
- Monitor biotech industry trends, funding activity, and pipeline developments to identify new business opportunities.
- Represent Clin Ops Solutions at industry conferences, networking events, and business development meetings to expand visibility and client relationships.
Recruitment
- Own the full-cycle recruitment process for clinical operations and related roles, from sourcing to offer negotiation.
- Build and maintain a strong pipeline of qualified candidates through networking, referrals, and targeted outreach.
- Collaborate with client hiring managers to understand job requirements and design tailored recruiting strategies.
- Conduct candidate screenings, interviews, and evaluations to ensure technical and cultural fit.
- Act as the primary point of contact for both clients and candidates, ensuring smooth communication and successful placements.
- Organize and coordinate interviews between candidates and clients, ensuring a professional and seamless experience.
Additional Responsibilities
- Attend conferences, webinars, and industry forums to stay connected with market trends and strengthen Clin Ops Solutions’ presence.
- Support internal initiatives, including process improvements, marketing activities, and thought leadership efforts.
- Partner with leadership to identify and execute strategic growth opportunities for Clin Ops Solutions.
- Perform other activities as needed to support the success and operational needs of Clin Ops Solutions.
Qualifications
- Must be based on the East Coast of the United States to align with client needs and time zone requirements.
- 12–15 years of experience working within biotechnology companies(experience in CROs or large pharma companies does not apply), with a strong background in clinical operations.
- Proven track record in both business development and full-cycle recruitment.
- Strong, well-established network of biotech executives, hiring managers, and operational leaders.
- Deep understanding of biotech business models, clinical development processes, and operational challenges.
- Demonstrated ability to generate new client partnerships while successfully recruiting and placing candidates in specialized roles.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills with credibility in the biotech sector.
